I drew this picture because I wanted to show that I matter for a reason. Everybody has their own opinion on how to change the world. My picture shows that I am important and unique. For every plan or goal I share, it can make a difference in the world; even if it's only a little change.

Title of the Artwork: Fallyn

Artists Statement: This is a drawing of many things, to you it's a just a girl, to me, my best friend, my motivation, and my inspiration; in other words, she's my sister. My sister, Fallyn, is the reason I matter, I'm her role model and I'm always in her corner. When she was born, I realized I wouldn't be walking this path of life alone, because my best friend would be beside me the whole way. She gave me the title, "Big sister", and when you ask why I matter, I give you one word "Fallyn".

Title of the Artwork: The People I Love

Artists Statement: My Painting shows a silhouette of a person with connections to the people around them. The small hearts symbolize that these are the people the person in the middle loves. Everything inside the large heart is mostly in different shades of blue because blue is the color of loyalty and harmony. The background is bright yellow to symbolize the happiness around all these connections. My artwork shows the theme because it shows the person in the middle loves and matters to all these loyal and loving people they are connected to. These people care, which creates harmony and joy.

Title of the Artwork: WE Can Make a Difference

Artists Statement: Why do I matter? Well, I would be hurt if I didn't matter. There's a lot of reasons why I matter. There would be a never-ending list of why I matter, just as there would be for you. One of the most important reason why I matter in my opinion, is that I can make a difference. I may not have made a big difference yet, but I can in the future. But, I'm not the only one who can make a difference, you can too! Even some of the smallest things, can have the biggest effects.

Title of the Artwork: Umbrellas in the Wind

Artists Statement: This picture represents how each person is unique. I chose umbrellas because they keep us safe, much like people, and like people, each umbrella is different. I think it's the different personalities and perspectives that each person has that makes us all matter.

Title of the Artwork: Signifigant

Artists Statement: I matter because I can make a difference, and I believe that anyone who can dream is able to achieve that dream and change the world. I chose to draw myself releasing a butterfly to represent this. There is an expression called the butterfly effect, where the beauty of a butterfly's wing can cause a tornado elsewhere. Although the action is small, it escalates to something significant and meaningful.

Title of the Artwork: Special

Artists Statement: I matter because I am special. I am unique in my own ways and have talents special to myself. If that was a seed, I can sow it to become the best version of myself and help others around me. My seed grows and multiplies, dropping seeds of hope in the people that I impact as well. I matter because I am unique and can strive to constantly improve myself to help the world become a better place. I matter because I have a purpose as does everyone else and we can all help grow a garden and spread love.

Title of the Artwork: Get Back Up Again

Artists Statement: The 2020-2021 theme is I matter because-- I believe I matter because I have overcome many challenges to become who I am today. My piece is called "Get Back Up Again", it shows a dancer falling and getting back up to try again. Having faced many challenges and failing multiple times before succeeding, I know how difficult it can be to try again. Every individual matters because they have endured life's challenges and get back up to face the world every day. Overall, I believe I matter because even when faced with failure I have always gotten back up.

Title of the Artwork: Ripple Effects

Artists Statement: Despite how it may seem, every person's actions affect the others around them, their words and choices rippling outwards towards other people. I matter like everyone else because I have the power to change the world around me and impact people with my words. Even the most insignificant things one does can change another person's life. If one person disappears, their absence would cause changes to the others around them. Every individual has more power than they realize. Like a rippling effect, a single person like me can influence the flow of the lives around them.
